Who We Are?
Founded in 2016 by Datin Joanne Wong, the Executive Director of IOI Foundation (formerly known as Yayasan Tan Sri Lee Shin Cheng), Bargain Basement transforms unused items into meaningful contributions for the community.
Inspired by Datin Joanne’s decluttering journey, the Bargain Basement initiative was created to repurpose pre-loved goods into funds that support various charitable causes while promoting sustainable shopping. Through this effort, Bargain Basement makes a positive impact on social, environmental, and financial causes.
Since our inception, we have contributed over RM928,000 to 50 charity homes and organizations. Join us in making a difference—shop or donate today!
I’m not a heavy consumer myself. I keep a simple wardrobe, with the exception of some fancy garments for dinners. Doing this (advocating the cause of Bargain Basement) has made me realise that we hoard more than necessary.
What We Do?
We Accept Donations
At Bargain Basement, we provide a platform for you to donate your new or items that are in good condition. Whether you are decluttering your home or office, you can visit your nearest shop and hand your donations to us, or simply drop them into our designated bin located at the front of the store. Your contributions help support our charitable initiatives!
We Sort Out the Donations
We perform quality checks on all donated items, sorting them to retain those in good condition. Our team organizes, cleans, and carries out minor maintenance to restore the items to their optimal condition. Our aim is to give these donations provide a second life and help them find new homes.
We Price and Display Items
We price items according to their condition, categorize them, and display them in designated areas. Our aim is to provide a wide selection of items in an organized setup, ensuring a delightful shopping experience where you can uncover amazing bargains.
We Stock Items Regularly
With the generous support and frequent donations from our donors, we consistently restock our shelves, ensuring there is always something fresh and exciting for you to discover.
We Distribute Proceeds for Charitable Causes
The proceeds from our sales are collected and distributed to support various charitable causes, including non-profit organizations, community projects, and underprivileged groups.
